Locating Children's Literature

The Barry Library collects children's books that are relevant to all areas of the curriculum. These books are part of the Arlene Shannon Juvenile collection located both on the main floor of the Library and towards the back of the 3rd floor (the historical portion of the collection; those books more than 20 years old).

Children's Literature Awards

Caldecott Medal Books
For the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
Newbery Medal Books
Given to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Coretta Scott King Award
Given to African American authors and illustrators for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions.
Theodor Seuss Geisel Award
Given to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers.
