Guide to materials in the William Lehman Papers

Record Group 1: Legislative Correspondence
Contains letters from constituents, organizations, associations, legislators, and other interested individuals and groups concerning legislative issues, as well as replies. Includes related clippings, publications, reports, and documents.
Record Group 2: Committee Assignments
Contains committee reports, hearings, testimonies, correspondence, bills, and other documents related to the Congressman's work on Congressional Committees and Subcommittees.
Record Group 3: Bills Cosigned and Cosponsored
Contains printed bills, markup bills, correspondence, remarks, fact sheets, hearings, and related materials.
Record Group 4: Source Files
Source Files, also called Legislative Issues Files, were compiled by the Congressman and his staff and contain documents related to a wide variety of issues that were addressed by Congress.
Record Group 5: Federal Program Files
Federal Program Files contain documents related to organizations, universities, agencies, and other entities and individuals who are requesting support from Congressman Lehman for their projects and ideas.
Record Group 6 (in progress): Travel Overseas
Includes correspondence, notes, reports, speeches, clippings, and related materials related to Congressman’s overseas and stateside trips, most frequently investigating issues related to his work as a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
