Evaluating Sources

There is a vast amount of information available on the Internet. However, the Internet is not regulated by any agency, so anyone can post information that may not be reliable. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the information before using it as a source.

Professional Organizations

American Association of Community Colleges
Nonprofit association that is a primary advocacy organization for community colleges at the national level and works closely with directors of state offices to inform and affect state policy.
American Association of State Colleges and Universities
Association of public colleges and universities working to provide more access to citizens who are traditionally underrepresented in the college community.
American Association of University Professors
Association whose purpose is to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.
American Association of University Women
Professional association advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
American Council on Education
Serves as a consensus leader on key higher education issues and seeks to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.
Association for the Study of Higher Education
