Historical & Legislative Documents

HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS:

FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE HISTORY MATERIALS:

  • ProQuest Congressional (access through Barry Law Library Databases page; scroll down to choose ProQuest Congressional
This is the easiest way to find a Congressional committee report, hearing transcript, or Congressional Record pages.

Locating Sources in Barry Law Library

Search for books, articles, and media using the Law Library's catalog.  Run one quick search to locate materials in the Library and articles from dozens of databases.  Use the facets on the left side of the results pages to narrow the results.  To see items only in the Library, be sure to choose the Library Catalog facet.

Locating Sources Outside Barry Law Library

WorldCatIf we don’t have it at Barry, try searching WorldCat. This will show you nearby libraries that have the item. When searching for a journal article, remember that you will be searching for the name of the journal (not the title of the article) to see if the other library subscribes to the journal.

Borrowing from Other Libraries

Use ILLiad to Request an Interlibrary Loan

Do you need to look at a book or article that is not available here in the Law Library?  Barry Law Library belongs to a network of libraries that lend each other books and articles.  If your research requires a source that Barry does not have, you can borrow that source from another library in the network.  This service is called interlibrary loan. ILLiad is the system Barry Law Library uses to borrow other libraries’ sources.

To request an interlibrary loan using ILLiad:

  1. Log into ILLiad at https://barry.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/FJQ/logon.html.
  2. Find the New Request section on the left menu, then choose the type of material you wish to borrow.
  3. Fill in the form with as much specific information as you have about the material you wish to borrow.
  4. Click Submit Request.
  5. You will receive an email when the request has been fulfilled.
  6. You can retrieve articles that have been delivered by logging into Illiad and clicking Electronically Received Articles under View.  Click the PDF icon to view and save the article.
  7. You can pick up books at the Law Library Circulation Desk.

New users can register for ILLiad by going to https://barry.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/FJQ/logon.html, clicking on First Time Users, and filling out the form.  The law school address will be sufficient for the address field.  Please make note of your user name and password.

If you have any questions or wish to reset your password, contact the Circulation Desk at lawILL@barry.edu.
